ROCKSTAR MAKITA SUZUKI'S TOMMY HAYDEN VICTORIOUS AT ROAD AMERICA, TAKES OVER POINT LEAD

  • Tommy Hayden now leads the AMA American SuperBike class in points.
  • Hayden scored his second career SuperBike win on Sunday at Road America.
  • The GSX-R1000 was on the podium four times over the Road America doubleheader weekend.

Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Tommy Hayden scored a hard-earned win on Sunday during the second race of the Road America doubleheader in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Hayden now leads the AMA American SuperBike class in points after being in second place since the first race of the season. His consistency on the track and his exemplary racing talent put him at the top of the series at the halfway point of the season.

Hayden started the day off on Sunday hoping to be on the winning end of the battle after narrowly missing the win in a photo finish on Saturday. Hayden has been second in the points chase since the first race of the season, but with Sunday’s amazing victory, he is now atop the leader board.

His teammate, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Blake Young, started off the front row of the grid on Saturday hoping to improve on his third-place finish on Saturday. After the two leaders pulled away from the pack, Young pushed hard to catch up all while battling other racers. Young fought hard but ended up in seventh overall after a bobble mid-race. Young is still fourth in overall points and is looking forward to the next round of racing at Mid-Ohio July 16-18.

Look for the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team to dominate once again at Round 6 of the series in Lexington, Ohio.
