New BO5041K delivers fast, smooth sanding for woodworking, carpentry, and more

MARCH 30, 2010 – La Mirada, Calif. – Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, is proud to announce the release of its new 5” Random Orbit Sander (model BO5041K). The new 5” Random Orbit Sander has two new features over the previous model, including a more powerful 3.0 AMP motor and an adjustable front handle. In addition, the BO5041K features a variable speed control dial and large 1/8” random orbit action for fast and smooth sanding, as well as a rubberized palm grip for improved operator comfort and control. It is ideal for woodworking, cabinetry, carpentry, and more.

The BO5041 features a Makita-built 3.0 AMP motor with oversized sealed ball bearing construction for longer tool life. The variable speed control dial (4,000 – 12,000 OPM) allows the user to match the sanding speed to the material, with a large two-finger trigger switch with conveniently located lock-on button for continuous use and increased operator comfort. The large 1/8” random orbit action delivers fast and smooth sanding and a swirl-free finish, with a pad control system for controlled pad speed upon start-up.

Additional comfort and ease-of-use features include a new adjustable front handle to allow for sanding in corners and confined areas, as well as ergonomic rubberized handles for improved operator comfort and control. The BO5041K uses quick-change 5” eight-hole hook-and-loop abrasive paper, and has an efficient through-the-pad dust collection system that helps provide a cleaner work environment. The high capacity dust collection system with built-in vacuum port adapter is engineered for improved dust collection.

The BO5041K 5” Random Orbit Sander is engineered for cabinetry, furniture, wood boats, decks, and general carpentry, and is ideal for cabinet makers, furniture builders, refinishers, boat builders, carpenters, and general contractors seeking a best in class random orbit sander.

Model BO5041K includes abrasive paper, dust bag, and tool case (Makita offers a variety of hoses and adapters – sold separately – for attachment to vacuum systems).
