La Mirada, CA – Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, is proud to announce the release of a new angle grinders: 5” Angle Grinder with SJS (model GA5020Y) and 6” Angle Grinder (model GA6020). The GA5020Y and GA6020 are engineered with Super Joint System (SJS), Makita’s exclusive technology that protects the gears for longer tool life. Both grinders are ideal for masons, welders, shipyard workers, automotive technicians, stone/tile workers, HVAC, electricians, and more.
“Super Joint System is a true point of difference in the grinder marketplace, and Makita is the only one to offer it,” said Wayne Hart, Makita communications manager. “Makita has shown once again how to take an industry leading tool and refine it to make it even better.”
Super Joint System (SJS)
The new GA5020Y and GA6020 Angle Grinders are engineered with Makita’s Super Joint System (SJS). Makita’s Super Joint System is an innovation from Makita engineering where the motor armature and spiral bevel gear are linked by a coil spring. If the grinding wheel catches or binds, the coil spring relaxes and disengages the gears from the motor. As the grinding wheel stops, the gears and motor are protected.
GA5020Y 5” Angle Grinder
The new GA5020Y has a powerful 10.5 AMP motor that delivers 11,000 RPM for the most demanding applications. Labyrinth construction seals and protects the motor and bearings from dust and debris, and the protective zig-zag varnish seals the armature from dust and debris for longer tool life. Additional features include lock-off switch for added user preference, and an electric brake that provides higher work efficiency for the operator. The GA5020Y has a refined design at only 5.9 lbs. for reduced operator fatigue, and an ergonomic soft grip for increased comfort on the job. The GA5020Y has an AC/DC switch for use with alternative power source, and externally accessible brushes for greater serviceability.
GA6020 6” Angle Grinder
The new GA6020 has a powerful 10.5 AMP motor that delivers 10,000 RPM for the most demanding applications. Labyrinth construction seals and protects the motor and bearings from dust and debris, and the protective zig-zag varnish seals the armature from dust and debris for longer tool life. Additional features include an electric brake that provides higher work efficiency for the operator. The GA6020 has a refined design at only 6.7 lbs. for reduced operator fatigue, and an ergonomic soft grip for increased comfort on the job. The GA6020 has an AC/DC switch for use with alternative power source, and externally accessible brushes for greater serviceability.
