MAY 26, 2010 – La Mirada, CA – The Rockstar Makita LeDuc Racing Team secured yet another podium finish with strong performances in rounds 5 and 6 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, which took place last weekend at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, NV.
After qualifying near the top of the field, Rockstar Makita LeDuc Racing’s Todd LeDuc (top-right) started out on the front row and it wasn’t long before LeDuc had his Rockstar Makita Ford at the front of the pack. When the dust cleared, Todd finished third, narrowly edged out at the finish line – by 54 thousandths of a second.
“The transmission was completely shot by the end of race, I was lucky to even finish,” commented Todd. “Most of all I was excited to get a podium finish for my sponsors.”
Saturday’s Pro 4 Unlimited action saw Todd’s brother Kyle and father Curt both suffer from engine troubles which forced Kyle out of the race. Curt was able to persevere and ended up in 9th place on the tight, technical track.
The LeDucs’ have a reputation for never quitting, and this race proved it once again. After rushing to change two transmissions and an engine on Saturday evening with the help of their Makita tools (mid-right), Kyle came out for Round 6 on Sunday and qualified 4th in Pro 4 Unlimited in his Rockstar Makita Ford. Kyle then managed to back up the qualifying time with a 5th place finish in the race, right behind his father’s No. 43 Rockstar Makita Ford in 4th place.
While running in third place on Sunday and charging toward the lead, Todd LeDuc’s Vegas luck ran out. He suffered more transmission issues and was unable to finish. “The truck is set up so well,” Todd noted. “The engine and suspension are dialed in, and we made some grooving changes to the tires that worked great, but the transmission temperature was up to 300 degrees during the race. Dad said to just run it until it died…which unfortunately wasn’t long enough to finish the race.”
