July 26, 2019, La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of innovative power tools and accessories, announces the new 5” SJSII™ Compact Concrete Planer Kit with Dust Extraction Shroud and Diamond Cup Wheel (PC5010CX1). The PC5010CX1 is ideal for concrete finishing, smoothing floors and concrete seams, concrete material removal, and surface coating removal.

The Concrete Planer is engineered for fast material removal. A powerful 12.0AMP motor delivers more output and 4,000-9,000 RPM. A variable speed control dial allows manual RPM adjustment to match the speed to the application. Constant speed control automatically applies additional power to the motor to maintain speed under load to complete the most challenging jobs, and the electronic current limiter helps protect the motor from overloading. A soft start suppresses start-up reaction for smooth start-ups and longer gear life.

The kit includes an integrated dust extraction shroud designed to capture dust during operation when used with a dust extractor (sold separately). The shroud has soft brushes to help prevent dust from escaping, and the 4-spring suspension system keeps the shroud flush with the surface during movement. A removable dust shroud cap allows for flush-to-wall edge grinding. The shroud is also designed to connect to Makita^® Dust Extractors for maximum dust management, and can be a part of an OSHA compliant system.

The kit also includes a 4-1/2” Low Vibration Diamond Cup Wheel, engineered for low vibration and more efficient material removal.

The Concrete Planer has additional features including an ergonomic loop handle and barrel grip for operator comfort. It weighs only 5.5 lbs., and is engineered for low vibration with Makita's exclusive SJSII™ technology.

The vibration causes the cam to press against the leaf spring, absorbing the vibration that would otherwise by transferred to the operator’s hands.
