MAKITA LAUNCHES NEW BRUSHLESS CORDLESS 12" DUAL-BEVEL SLIDING COMPOUND MITER SAWS

New miter saws offer maximum capacity and efficient cutting without the cord.

The new 18V X2 LXT (36V) Brushless Cordless 12” Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saws deliver up to 175 cuts in 2x12 lumber per charge with two 5.0Ah batteries.

May 7, 2019, La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high-quality professional tools and accessories, announces the release of two new cordless miter saws. The 18V X2 (36V) LXT® Brushless 12” Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser (XSL07) and 12” Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser, AWS Capable (XSL08) offer unmatched cutting capacity, space saving design, and innovative technology.

 
These two new 12” Miter Saws expand Makita’s woodworking offering. Like the successful 10” Dual-Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saws (XSL04 and XSL06), the XSL07 and XSL08 are powered by two LXT batteries, with exclusive technology delivering more power, speed and run time.
 
Unmatched Cutting
The XSL07 and XSL08 deliver a large dimensional lumber cutting capacity, with up to 8” crown molding (nested), 6-3/4” baseboard (vertical) and 15” crosscuts at 90 degrees. The XSL07 and XSL08 can make up to 175 cuts in 2x12 lumber per charge with two 5.0Ah batteries.
 
Both miter saws are powered by an efficient Makita® BL™ Brushless Motor with direct-drive gearbox and electric brake that delivers a full 4,400 RPM. The efficiency of the direct drive gearbox is enhanced by Automatic Speed Change™ Technology, which adjusts blade speed and torque during use for faster, more efficient cutting.
 
New Features
The XSL07 and XSL08 have a unique 2-steel rail sliding system that offers a reduced footprint for operation flush against the wall and saving space during transport. Other features include a bevel lock in the front for convenient operation, more robust extension wings, and a new clip-in dust nozzle assembly.  
 
Auto-Start Wireless System (AWS™)
The XSL08 differs from the XSL07 with the added benefit of Auto-Start Wireless System (AWS™) capability. AWS uses Bluetooth® technology for wireless power-on and power-off communication between the equipped tool and dust extractor. Once connected via AWS, the AWS-equipped dust extractor will automatically power on or off when the AWS-equipped cordless tool starts or stops, running only when the tool is in use. This increases productivity on a single charge and reduces continuous noise at the job or work site. AWS is activated with an AWS Wireless Transmitter (198901-5, sold separately).  
 
18V LXT® System
The Makita® LXT® Cordless System, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V lithium-ion slide-style batteries, takes a user from power tools to outdoor power equipment to get the job done. Makita® 18V LXT® Batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.   
 
Star Protection Computer Controls™
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita® 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol indicating Star Protection inside.
 
Max Efficiency Blade
The XSL07 and XSL08 come standard with a premium 12” 60T Carbide-Tipped Max Efficiency Miter Saw Blade, which is engineered to cut faster and get up to 30% more cuts per charge compared to standard Makita® 12” miter saw blades. Makita also offers 80T and 100T Max Efficiency Miter Saw Blades (B-66999 and B-67000, sold separately). 
 
Each Max Efficiency blade is expertly tensioned for precision and true cutting, and manufactured from high quality hardened steel for added durability. Specially engineered ATAFR (Alternate Top Alternate Face w/ Raker) carbide tips assist to reduce the load put on the tool while cutting for smoother, faster cuts. The thin kerf carbide tip design provides greater efficiency with less drag on the motor and minimal material loss.
