MAKITA RELEASES NEW 40V MAX XGT® 4-1/2” / 6" ANGLE GRINDER

New cordless angle grinder features a brushless motor for faster cutting speed

September 13, 2023, La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high-quality professional tools, power equipment, and accessories, has released the 40V max XGT® Brushless 4-1/2” / 6" Paddle Switch Angle Grinder, with Electric Brake (GAG14) offering users the power equivalent of a 15 AMP corded grinder with the convenience of cordless.

More Power, Longer Run Time

The GAG14 is powered by a Makita-built brushless motor for longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. The brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life. Active Feedback-sensing Technology (AFT®) turns the motor off if the rotation speed suddenly slows or the wheel is forced to a stop. The large paddle switch allows for power start press points at multiple grip positions.

Tool-Less Adjustment and Smoother Start-Ups

The Angle Grinder features an electronic current limiter that helps protect the motor from overload in high torque applications, it also features quick guard rotation that allows easy tool-less adjustment for increased productivity, spiral bevel gears for smoother rotations, and a more efficient transfer of energy, as well as soft start which suppresses the grinder’s start-up reaction for smooth start-ups and longer gear life. It features anti-restart protection engineered to prevent motor start-up when the battery is inserted with the switch locked on.

Convenience Features

Convenience features include a rubberized soft grip which provides increased comfort on the job, and a compact size of only 13-1/2” which increases user comfort and allows operation in tight spaces.

XGT®: One System of Cordless Equipment and Tools

The new 40V max XGT® 4-1/2” / 6" Paddle Switch Angle Grinder is part of Makita XGT®, an expanding system of 40V max and 80V max cordless equipment and tools. XGT® gives users one system, from core handheld tools like drills and impact drivers to equipment-grade products including high-capacity saws, rotary hammers, and power cutters – all powered by 40V max XGT® batteries. The expanding XGT System will offer 125+ products in 2023.
