August 16, La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high-quality professional tools, outdoor power equipment and accessories, has released eight new grinding solutions for the industrial grinding category. The release includes five 5” grinders and three 4 1-/2” grinders providing more options for a wider range of applications.
“Makita is excited to announce more solutions in the compact industrial segment with eight new powerful grinders in the GA45 and GA50 series,” said Rufus Richardson, senior product manager, commercial power tools, Makita U.S.A. Inc. “This recent addition will further add to Makita’s great history and legacy, while offering users more options.”
SJS™ II Gives Users Two Key Advantages
The new GA45 and GA50 series grinders feature Makita’s exclusive SJS™II Technology which provides two key advantages. SJS™ II is a mechanical gear drive system that helps prevent motor and gear damage by dampening the force and releasing the gears when the wheel is forced to stop. And since it’s a mechanical feature (not electronic), SJS II does not require a restart after the wheel binds. Another key advantage is lower vibration. SJS™ II utilizes a leaf spring and cam gear drive mechanism that is engineered to reduce vibration for increased operator comfort during extended use.
“The combination of high power with lower vibration is unique in the compact industrial grinder category,” said Richardson. “This class of grinder is targeted at commercial applications in the oil and energy industries, shipbuilding, and more, and users in this category often utilize grinders for long periods of time. Lower vibration means increased comfort for pro users in these industries. Lower vibration is also engineered for increased accuracy, which is key in precision cutting applications like stone work and countertops.”
All the recently released grinders feature a powerful 15 AMP motor that delivers more output and up to 11,500 RPM for a wide variety of applications. Longer tool life is achieved through the use of labyrinth construction seals that protect the motor and bearings from dust and debris. The grinders feature a “tool-less” wheel guard for easy adjustment.
