TOOLS OF THE TRADE VIDEO CAPTURES MM4™ ADVANTAGE AT WORLD OF CONCRETE

Makita 4-stroke engine power cutter delivers reduced cost, faster starts, and more

One of the highlights at World of Concrete 2014 in Las Vegas was the Makita EK7651H, the world's first 4-stroke engine power cutter. Tools of the Trade editor David Frane stopped by the Makita booth to check out this latest solution for concrete contractors, see video above.

Makita 4-Stroke Advantage
The market is loaded with 2-stroke power cutters, and engine failure due to improper fuel and oil mixing is one of the most common failures with these tools. Makita applied years of research into the development of the EK7651H and changed the game with 4-stroke engine technology, which has several advantages over 2-stroke:

  • No oil mixing offers simplified operation and prevents engine failure due to improper mix
  • Eliminates the need for separate mixed oil/fuel can
  • Lower noise at 92.7dB(A) and smoother idle for continuous operation
  • Lower fuel consuption at .45 gallons per hour
  • Reduced exhaust and intake carbon build-up for long cylinder life
  • Three-ring piston for improved commercial engine durability

For more information on the World's First 4-stroke engine power cutter, including the online calculator that shows potential savings of 4-stroke over 2-stroke, check out the Makita MM4 micro-site

A contractor at the Port of Long Beach in California puts the MM4™ 4-stroke advantage to work.

The Savings Calculator at makitatools.com/MM4 allows users to see the potential savings when switching to MM4™ 4-stroke engine technology.
