It's not even Thanksgiving yet, but the editors at Popular Mechanics Magazine have their holiday wish list completed and in-print in their December 2010 issue. This year, they're wishing for a Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 7/8" Rotary Hammer (model BHR241), calling it "a user-friendly model that weighs just 6.6 pounds and can drill holes up to 7/8 inch in diameter."
The BHR241 features a new shock absorbent D-handle design, and combines speed, power and comfort with less vibration for a range of concrete drilling applications. It has a Makita-built variable speed motor that delivers 1-1,000 RPM and 0-4,000 BPM, with 3-mode operation for "rotation only," "hammering with rotation," or "hammering only." The built-in clutch reduces gear damage by disengaging gears if the bit binds. In addition, the BHR241 is engineered with a one-touch sliding chuck (accepts SDS-PLUS bits) for easy bit changes, and the chisel rotates 360 degrees with 40 different locking positions to get the best work setting.
The BHR241 is just one of 36+ tools in Makita's breakthrough 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Series, delivering 18V Power and 12V Weight, with one 18V LXT battery that reaches a full charge in only 30 minutes on Makita's ENERGY STAR qualified charger.
