MAY 26, 2010 La Mirada, Calif. – Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, is proud to announce the release of its new high pressure pneumatics technology. The new technology dramatically increases air pressure created in the compressor and delivered to pneumatic nailers, resulting in a superior power to weight ratio and a more efficient system than conventional compressors and nailers.
The launch of Makita’s new high pressure pneumatics consists of the 2.5 HP High Pressure Air Compressor (AC310H), the 2-1/2” High Pressure Siding Coil Nailer (AN610H), and the 3-1/2” High Pressure Framing Coil Nailer (AN911H). These innovative products are Makita’s first steps into high pressure pneumatics technology that will meet the demands for larger nails, higher capacity, and greater versatility in a range of materials, including the increasingly dense engineered lumber used in framing construction.
“High pressure technology allows Makita to engineer more compact tools that weigh less and feel better, yet deliver more power and results for the end user,” said Joe Soto, Product Manager, Pneumatics and Residential Construction. “Makita’s high pressure compressor and nailers have the capacity and the versatility to deliver more consistent nailing results through a wide variety of soft, hard and dense materials. With this increased efficiency, productivity and performance, Makita High Pressure is the future of pneumatics.”
The heart of Makita’s high pressure pneumatics is the 2.5HP High Pressure Air compressor. With a high pressure 1.6 gallon tank, the AC310H provides the same capacity as a conventional 5-gallon tank at 120 PSI, but with less noise and a more compact size for easier transport. The AC310H has a more efficient four-pole induction motor operating at 1,720 RPM for greater displacement at lower RPM with lower noise, and a highly-efficient dual-head (2-stage) pump that builds up to 400 PSI capacity. The low amp draw reduces the incidence of tripper breakers and voltage drop during start up.
The AC310H has dual capacity, with two universal couplers for conventional nailers (3.6 CFM at 90 PSI) and two couplers for high pressure nailers (2.7 CFM at 300 PSI). It has an oil-less pump for maintenance-free operation, and a roll cage and kick plate to withstand extreme jobsite environments. The large rubberized bumpers are designed for added durability, with large regulator knobs for easier adjustments.
The AN610H can operate at 140-320 PSI, and with its high pressure capacity and superior power to weight ratio is up to 30% more compact than a conventional nailer. The AN610H also weighs less – only 4.2 lbs. – yet holds up to 400 nails in sizes ranging from 1-1/4” to 2-1/2”. With increased pressure for driving each nail, the AN610H delivers more consistent flush nailing. Tool-less depth adjustments have been engineered to provide the option of precise flush or countersink nailing, and a 2-mode selector trigger switch allows the user to select sequential or contact driving options.
The AN610H has an easy-load nail canister and a see-through window. The canister base adjusts easily for various nail sizes, delivering faster, more efficient loading for increased productivity. For user comfort, there are large rubberized grips, a tool hook to keep the nailer close by while not in use, and a multi-directional exhaust port to direct exhaust air away from the user.
Like the AN610H, The AN911H can operate at high pressure (180-320 PSI). The AN911H has the power to consistently drive larger nails into dense materials like OSB, LVL, and glue lam, giving framing contractors one nailer to handle all of their framing needs. The AN911H has a superior power to weight ratio: up to 30% more compact with up to 30% less weight than a conventional nailer. It weighs only 5.3 lbs. yet holds up to 300 nails in sizes ranging from 1-3/4” to 3-1/2” x .162” shank diameter. With increased pressure for driving each nail, the AN911H delivers more consistent flush nailing. Tool-less depth adjustments have been engineered to provide the option of precise flush or countersink nailing, and a 2-mode selector trigger switch allows the user to select sequential or contact driving options.

The AN911H is ideal for framers using soft, hard and dense materials, as well as engineered lumber including LVL, OSB, and glue lam.
