POPULAR MECHANICS PICKS MAKITA VAC AS BEST "No jams, and no problems" earns BCL180W the top spot

Popular Mechanics magazine picked the Makita BCL180W as best in a recent review of cordless handheld vacuums. The review appears on page 28 in their February 2010 issue.

The magazine (circulation: 1.2 million) reviewed the Makita 18V Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless Vacuum against the Black & Decker FHV1200 Flex and the Dyson DC31, both handheld vacuums with rechargeable batteries.

The Makita earned high marks for suction (“no jams, and no problems”, said the reviewer). As far as battery life, it was no contest: Dyson’s lithium-ion battery required a 3.5 hour charge, and Black & Decker’s Nickel-Cd battery pack required 21 hours to fully charge. The BCL180W is powered by Makita’s 18V Compact Lithium-Ion battery, which reaches a full charge in just 15 minutes on Makita’s ENERGY STAR rated Rapid Optimum Charger.

The BCL180W is a compact yet powerful cordless vacuum with strong suction power for fast and efficient cleaning, for use with or without the floor nozzle extension. At just 18-3/4” in length, the compact and lightweight design provides extra comfort with reduced operator fatigue, and the angled design provides strong suction for fast and efficient cleaning. The floor extension and redesigned swivel floor nozzle attaches easily, and includes a crevice nozzle for improved cleaning in tight spaces.
