The premium 18V LXT® Brushless ½” Hammer Driver-Drill (XPH14) delivers a full 1,250 in.lbs. of Max Torque, the most in the category.

January 19, 2021, La Mirada, CA – Makita U.S.A., Inc., manufacturer of high-quality professional tools and accessories, has launched the premium 18V LXT® Brushless ½” Hammer Driver-Drill (XPH14). The new hammer driver-drill delivers a full 1,250 in.lbs. of Max Torque, the most in the category. Despite its powerful punch, the XPH14 is 14% smaller than its predecessor, XPH07.
Versatile Design for a Range of Applications
The XPH14 is ergonomic and compact at only 7” in length. It features a 2-speed transmission (0-550 and 0-2,100 RPM) for drilling, fastening, and hammer-drilling applications. The XPH14 is engineered to handle the most demanding drilling and driving applications in wood, masonry and steel. A 2-9/16” self-feed bit in high speed can easily bore through pine.
Additional features include an all-metal ½” self-ratcheting chuck for improved bit-gripping strength, a built-in L.E.D. light that helps illuminate the work surface, and a rubberized grip for increased comfort.
“The new 18V LXT Brushless Hammer Driver-Drill is built on the foundation of the industry-leading XPH07,” said Carlos Quintana, Senior Product Manager, Cordless Products, Makita USA. “With its combination of power, speed, and run time, this new hammer driver-drill is the ultimate cordless solution for drilling and driving.”
Star Protection Computer Controls™
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, the XPH14 features Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating.
XPT for Added Durability in Harsh Conditions
For added durability, the XPH14 features Makita’s exclusive Extreme Protection Technology (XPT). XPT is a protective seal inside the tool engineered for improved water resistance by channeling water and dust from the tool’s key internal components. The XPT-equipped XPH14 is engineered for improved operation in harsh job site conditions.
18V LXT System
The new XPH14 is part of Makita’s expanding 18V LXT System, which offers 275+ products and is the world’s largest cordless tool line-up powered by an 18V lithium-ion slide-style battery. Makita’s 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.
The hammer drill is available in a kit (XPH14T) or tool-only version (XPH14Z). Makita has also released an 18V LXT 2-Piece Combo Kit that includes the new XPH14, model XT288T (includes an 18V LXT Brushless 4-Speed Impact Driver (XDT16), two 18V LXT 5.0Ah Batteries and charger).
