Landscapers and contractors are demanding more cordless alternatives to gas-powered outdoor power equipment. Makita is meeting demand with an expanding line of cordless OPE, including the 18V LXT® Brushless Chain Saw (model XCU11Z, tool only, batteries, and charger sold separately). With zero emissions, lower noise, and considerably less maintenance, the XCU11Z is a welcome solution for cutting and trimming applications.
It’s powered by one 18V LXT® battery, the same fast-charging battery that powers the full range of products in the expanding LXT® System. The efficient Makita brushless motor allows users to get high power efficiency that is equivalent to a gas chain saw, performing up to 73 cuts in 4x4 cedar with an 18V LXT® 4.0Ah battery.
The XCU11 has a 14” guide bar and the Makita-built motor with variable speed delivers 0- 1,520 FPM for increased cutting speed. It has zero emissions and reduced maintenance: there's no engine oil to change, no spark plug to replace, and no air filter or muffler to clean. And there's no need to drain the fuel for storage. Simply pick it up, load an 18V LXT® battery, and the saw is ready to use. Convenience features include "tool-less" chain adjustments, a front hand guard engineered to actuate chain brake when engaged, an electric brake for maximum productivity, and more.
Convenience features include a large oil filling port with a viewing window that allows the operator to easily add and check the bar oil level, a rubberized soft grip top handle that is engineered for the user to more easily apply even cutting pressure, and a compact body with rear handle design for easy maneuverability.
It’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V Lithium-Ion system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger.
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is a communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT® and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

TECHNOLOGY
Tool users who unplug the cord with Makita 18V LXT® experience new levels of convenience, efficiency and productivity. Makita created the 18V Lithium-Ion cordless tool category in 2005, and today it is the world’s largest 18V cordless tool line-up. Makita’s leading technology gives tool users unmatched performance and breadth of line, with innovation in motor and battery technology that is obliterating industry standards – and leaving old thinking behind. With high amp-hour batteries, efficient brushed and brushless motors, and 36V (18V X2) LXT® technology, Makita 18V LXT® tools not only meet corded demands, they can exceed the performance of corded, all while remaining in a single cordless platform powered by the industry's fastest-charging 18V lithium-ion batteries. Makita cordless tools are engineered for industrial applications, and for added protection during the most demanding jobs Makita created STAR Protection Computer Controls™. STAR is communications technology that monitors conditions during use, allowing the tool and battery to exchange data to protect against overloading, overdischarging and overheating. If STAR detects conditions that threaten to overload, overdischarge or overheat the tool or battery, the tool will automatically stop. At that time the user can either restart the tool, change or charge the battery, and put the tool back to work. When you slide a Makita 18V LXT® battery with the STAR symbol onto a Makita tool that has either the STAR symbol or a yellow terminal, you are benefitting from STAR Protection Computer Controls™.
When the job takes your Makita tool into harsh conditions, Makita Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) provides added protection. XPT™ is a series of integrated seals engineered to channel away dust and water for increased durability. Wherever the job takes you, Makita tools equipped with XPT™ are engineered for increased durability and longer tool life.
