About
Landscapers are demanding more cordless alternatives to gas-powered outdoor power equipment. Makita is meeting demand with an expanding collection of cordless lawn mowers, including the 40V ConnectX™ Brushless 21" Self-Propelled Commercial Lawn Mower (CML01Z). With zero emissions, lower noise and considerably less maintenance than gas-powered mowers, this lawn mower is a welcome solution for landscapers.
The CML01Z utilizes an external battery connection, a backpack power supply (PDC1200A01, sold separately) that is mounted directly onto the lawn mower. The higher capacity power supply provides longer run time. This mower can cut up to 2 acres in 3 hours or less when paired with the ConnectX Portable Backpack Power Supply (PDC1200A01).
The mower is self-propelled, offers variable speeds (1.5 MPH – 3 MPH), and features a commercial grade steel deck. The brushless motor delivers up to 2,800 RPM for faster cutting. Quiet mode reduces noise by providing constant speed control at 2,300 RPM. A 3-in-1 design allows for mulching, bagging, or side discharge.
The large 9” wheels have a replaceable rubber tread. The wheels feature steel ball bearings to provide a smoother drive with better maneuverability and increased durability. A single lever quickly adjusts the cutting height (1-1/4” – 4”).
The lawn mower features IPX4 weather-resistant construction and exclusive Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™). XPT is a protective seal inside the tool and is engineered for improved operation in harsh conditions by channeling water and dust from key internal components.
For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls™. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita® 18V LXT® Lithium-Ion Batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Makita® ConnectX™ is a run-time and power solution for use with ConnectX products, as well as XGT and LXT tools and equipment when used with an adaptor. ConnectX accelerates the transition to battery power with a Backpack Power Supply (PDC1200A01), which packs a high-capacity 1,200Wh battery for all-day work and performance without the hassles of gas or cords. ConnectX is the ultimate in versatility, offering easy compatibility with the premium line of ConnectX equipment including commercial-grade lawn mowers and trimmers, as well as 40V max XGT and 36V (18V X2) LXT products when used with an adaptor. Makita cordless tools are engineered for industrial applications, and for added protection during the most demanding jobs Makita created STAR Protection Computer Controls™. STAR is communications technology that monitors conditions during use, allowing the tool and battery to exchange data to protect against overloading, overdischarging and overheating. If STAR detects conditions that threaten to overload, overdischarge or overheat the tool or battery, the tool will automatically stop. At that time the user can either restart the tool, change or charge the battery, and put the tool back to work. When you slide a Makita 18V LXT® battery with the STAR symbol onto a Makita tool that has either the STAR symbol or a yellow terminal, you are benefitting from STAR Protection Computer Controls™.
When the job takes your Makita tool into harsh conditions, Makita Extreme Protection Technology (XPT™) provides added protection. XPT™ is a series of integrated seals engineered to channel away dust and water for increased durability. Wherever the job takes you, Makita tools equipped with XPT™ are engineered for increased durability and longer tool life.
