ROCKSTAR MAKITA SUZUKI LEADS THE WAY TO BUDDS CREEK MX
Reigning AMA Supercross Champion Ryan Dungey took the lead in the race for the 2010 AMA Pro Motocross Championship last week, after winning four consecutive motos in the last two rounds at High Point and Freestone. With Dungey in top form and continuing to build momentum, the team is looking forward to extending the 25-point lead Dungey has built up at the upcoming Budds Creek National.
“We had back-to-back good weekends and put ourselves in a pretty good spot, but it’s still really early in a long championship,” Dungey said. “We’re off to Budds Creek where we had a mudder last year. That track is one of my favorites on the series so hopefully we can get some good weather and a good race for the fans.”
Last week’s race at High Point demonstrated what Dungey is capable of. At the end of the first moto, Dungey had built up a whopping 27-second lead over the competition. As if that wasn’t enough, Dungey managed to move up from fifth place to take the lead despite a ten-second gap that had been built up by the former race leader. With the bike tuned to perfection with Makita tools, Dungey has all he needs to build his points lead and go for his third consecutive overall victory.
Dungey’s teammate and fellow 450-class racer Matt Moss will also be taking to the dirt at Budds Creek, and is looking to build on his results at High Point. Moss raced his way to a season-best 17th during Moto 1, and even ran as high as second in Moto 2 before a the rutted track forced him to drop back. Moss is looking forward to getting back in the saddle and racing again this weekend.
“I wasn’t much off the pace,” Moss said. “I’m looking forward to Budds Creek and getting back out on the track.”
The track at Budds Creek Motocross Park has been a staple of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship for years, and it has become a favorite of both the riders and fans due to its exciting layout and great visibility for spectators. The race will take place on June 19th, and will be broadcast on SPEED channel starting at 8 PM EST for the 250 class, and 9 PM for the 450 class.
