MAKITA'S NEW HARD-HITTING DEMOLITION HAMMER HAS LESS VIBRATION

Makita's mid-size HM1214C equipped with exclusive AVT counterbalance system

JULY 6, 2009 – La Mirada, Calif. – Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, is proud to announce the release of its new 27.1 lb. SDS-MAX AVT Demolition Hammer, model HM1214C. This hard-hitting hammer is equipped with Anti-Vibration Technology, Makita’s exclusive counterbalance system that delivers more efficient hitting on the concrete with less vibration in the tool.

The new HM1214C is the latest in a growing line of concrete solutions from Makita.

“The new HM1214C combines hard-hitting power and less vibration with a more versatile design,” said Anthony Corwin, Makita product manager, commercial products. “With the in-line design, the HM1214C can be used for vertical work from a more comfortable working position than common L-shaped hammers.  And at 27.1 pounds, this hammer has the weight required for mid-level chipping and breaking, yet it’s light enough for horizontal work.”

14 AMP Power
The HM1214C with AVT is engineered to be the most efficient breaker hammer in its class with a 14 AMP motor that provides 950-1,900 BPM and 25.7 joules of impact energy with less vibration. In addition, it has an automatic brush cut-off system that protects the commutator, and a warning indicator lamp for longer tool life.

More Work and Less Vibration, With Ease-of-Use Features
The HM1214C is equipped with AVT, Makita’s exclusive counterbalance system that reduces vibration for more efficient hitting power. The breaker hammer also has lower noise at just 102dB. Makita engineered the HM1214C with an electronic variable speed adjusting dial for controlled operation. In addition, the “no hammering when idling” function helps increase tool life. The HM1214C has a one-touch chuck and accepts the popular SDS-MAX steel for a wide variety of breaker hammer accessories, and with 12 bit angle settings the user can set the position to each application.

The HM1214C weighs 27.1 lbs. and is just 27.5” long with a convenient in-line design. It has a rubberized ergonomic soft grip, a large side handle, and an easy-to-operate switch for better control and comfort. The L.E.D. service light indicates when carbon brushes need to be replaced, and the L.E.D. power light signals troubles with the electric circuit. For added convenience, the HM1214C has a 16.4 ft. cord,

Versatile Design for a Range of Applications
The HM1214C with AVT is a hard-hitting breaker hammer for digging, chipping, tamping and breaking. Its superior efficiency, versatility and comfort make the HM1214C an ideal breaker hammer for landscapers, electricians, plumbers, masons, remodelers, and general contractors seeking a best-in-class industrial quality 27 lb. breaker hammer. The HM1214C is just another example of Makita’s commitment to innovative technology and best in class engineering.

About Makita’s Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT)
Makita has adapted the science of earthquake engineering into power tools with Makita’s Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT). AVT is an exclusive counterbalance design that provides the professional a power tool solution with up to three-times less vibration, less noise and more efficient power than the competition.

Seismic research has developed this damping science over years to absorb the shocks and protect buildings from devastation of earthquake vibrations. Makita’s exclusive AVT involves engineering where a mechanical damper, effectively a counter balance weight, provides an equal and opposite force that puts a mass directly opposite the point at which the striker bolt delivers the impact. As vibration is eliminated power is efficiently increased, allowing more of the generated energy in the motor to be delivered to the tool bit.
