October 27, 2006 – La Mirada, Calif. – Makita USA, Inc., manufacturer of high-quality professional quality power tools and accessories, has announced the launch of its new ¼” Paddle Switch Die Grinder, model GD0600. The grinder packs a powerful AC/DC motor with 25,000 RPM in a slim body design. This combination of power and easy handling makes the GD0600 a best-in-class engineering solution for a range of grinding tasks.
The Makita-built industrial motor is housed with front and rear air vents to run cooler under continuous use, extending the life of the grinder. The GD0600 includes an AC/DC switch for use with alternative power sources. To protect the motor from debris, the grinder is built with a labyrinth construction that seals the motor and bearings by creating a complex set of channels, extending the life of the tool. In addition, the motor is sealed by a protective zig-zag varnish which prevents contamination by creating a barrier under rotation.
Makita has engineered comfort and ergonomics into the grinder for professional use all day long. The paddle switch is positioned at the base of the small circumference barrel grip for easy handling and one-handed operation. The motor stops running as soon as the paddle switch is released for better control. The grinder has a stepped neck of solid aluminum housing, with a dual coupling barrel that fits most standard accessories and is protected by a removable rubber boot. The front and rear air vents not only keep the motor cool, but also blow debris away from the user for better work focus.
The GD0600 is built for a range of applications, including pipe fittings and small-scale grinding, and is made for use by welders, plumbers, ship builders, HVAC, automotive, and more.
