October 27, 2006 – La Mirada, Calif. – Makita USA, Inc., manufacturer of high-quality professional quality power tools and accessories, has announced the addition of three new models to its growing angle grinder line: models GA7020 (7” 8,500 RPM and AC/DC), GA7021 (7” 6,000 RPM) and GA9020 (9” 6,000 RPM). All three grinders have Makita-built industrial 15 AMP motors to deliver more output power for increased performance. In addition, the grinders are engineered with the durability and protection of all-metal gear housing, yet weigh less than other grinders on the market. These best-in-class engineering features place the three new grinders ahead of other grinders in weight and power-to-weight ratio categories. The addition of these three new models brings Makita's total number of grinders to 21, with product ranging from 4” to 9” grinding wheel models.

The three new grinders feature Makita-built industrial 15 AMP motors with 2,600W continuous rating input. The GA7020 (7”) has a no load RPM of 8,500 for faster work with more efficiency. The GA7021 (7”) and GA9020 (9”) have no load RPM speeds of 6,000.

To protect the motor from debris, the grinders are built with a labyrinth construction that seals the motor and bearings by creating a complex set of channels, extending the life of the tool. In addition, the motor is sealed by a protective zig-zag varnish which prevents contamination by creating a barrier under rotation. The grinders have rugged, all-metal housing for increased durability and added protection.

In addition to durability and performance, Makita engineered comfort and ergonomics into the grinders for professional use all day long. The low vibration rear handle has a soft grip for more comfort and control. The rotatable gear housing can be positioned at every 90 degrees for cutting and grinding applications. The side handle can be easily installed on both sides of the tool as well as the top for operator convenience. The large rubber tool rest on the top of the metal housing protects work piece from scratches. On model GA7021 (7”), the wheel guard features a “tool-less” clamping system for easy adjustment.

All three grinders are built to suit the most demanding applications, including cutting, paint and rust removal, heavy machinery, metal polishing, general steel grinding, cutting brick/masonry, and more. The grinders are for professional tradesman, including welders, fabricators, masons, maintenance repair, and more.
